As part of the Action and due tasks and deliverables   BEAST projects partners have compiled  and shared the good practices from their territories and beyond. Hereby the good practice from Cyprus Energy Agency.

The Cyprus Energy Agency, developed an on-line tool called LOCAL ENERGY BALANCES (http://www.cea.org.cy/app/CEA_energy.html) for the calculation of local (Municipalities and Communities) Energy Balances in Cyprus. The use of this tool has been very useful not only for the creation of baseline emission inventories of the Municipalities, but also in monitoring the impact of the implementation of local Sustainable Energy Action Plan (SEAPs) measures.

The Jam Session was held to support the further development of utilization of waste heat from the steel plant Ovako. The purpose of the Jam Session was to identify problems and develop proposals for the best solution for Boxholm and Ovako waste heat recovery. The ‘red hot topic’ for the jam session was: Possible solutions for the recovery of all the waste heat from Ovako.

Beersel, Halle and St-Pieters-Leeuw explore financing of energy efficiency measures in public buildings

On 9th January, 40-odd technicians, environmental officers, aldermen and mayors from the Belgian municipalities of Beersel, Halle and St-Pieters-Leeuw convened for the first intermunicipal ‘jam session’ on Energy Performance Contracting. The three municipalities are part of the province of Flemish Brabant, a partner in the BEAST Project (‘Beyond Energy Action Strategies).

The BEAST project looks at ways in which the ISLEPACT SEAP can be implemented locally. In this context, a BEAST Jam Session workshop took place in Stornoway on the 3rd of December 2014, where a range of local partners met and focused on prioritising actions which will lead to a real improvement in the Fuel Poverty situation in the Outer Hebrides.
